Solar PV
Solar PV (Solar Photovoltaic) installations are becoming an integral part of every building within our communities, whether they are homes, public buildings, social housing, hospitals, commercial or industrial buildings. Reducing energy bills, reducing the buildings dependency on the grid and moving towards NET Zero is becoming more and more important.
By installing Solar PV on a building, you can significantly reduce your energy bills.
This can be done in two ways:
- Using the energy generated by your Solar PV Panels during the day, therefore reducing the amount of energy required from the grid and in turn reducing your energy bills.
- Any excess energy generated from your Solar PV Panels that is not used by the building can be exported back to the grid and sold to a number of Energy providers. This is called the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). More information can be found here (LINK)
By looking at a building and the available space, talking to you about your usage of energy, as well as your energy bills, we can design the best Solar PV system for you, your building, and your budget. No matter how big or small.
Each of our Electrical Engineers are trained to the highest level, with ongoing professional and in-house training to maintain our high levels of expertise, as well as many years of experience within the Solar PV market.
What Are The Benefits For Your Home?
- Cut your Electricity Bills: Sunlight is free, so once you’ve paid for the initial installation your electricity costs will be reduced.
- Sell Electricity back to the grid: If your system is producing more electricity than you need, or when you can’t use it, you can sell the surplus back to the grid via the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). OFGEM Smart Export Guarantee – Guidance for Generators
- Latest Technologies: By using the latest technologies and their live apps, you as a Solar PV system owner will be able to monitor your energy usage at any point, day or night
- Add a Battery: Giving you the ability to store your free electricity and use it at a later date. A battery can also be filled from the grid via energy providers tariffs. Time of Use Tariffs fill the battery during the night at reduced costs, saving you even more money
- Add an Energy diverter: If you have storage heaters or an immersion heater and water tank, the energy diverter can divert the excess energy from your Solar PV system to your storage heaters and water tank, providing you with free heat and hot water.
- Add an Electric Vehicle Charge Point: If you have an electric vehicle, by installing an intelligent electric vehicle charger you will be able to charge your vehicle from your Solar Panels, therefore not costing you a penny, access cheaper energy tariffs during the night from energy providers or instantly charge your vehicle as and when needed.
- Cut your Carbon Footprint: Solar electricity is green, renewable energy and doesn’t release any harmful carbon dioxide (CO2) or other pollutants. A typical home Solar PV system could save over a tonne of CO2 per year.
What Are The Benefits For Your Business?
Commercial businesses can reap numerous benefits from installing Solar PV (Solar Photovoltaic) systems. Here are some key advantages:
Reduced Energy Costs: Solar PV systems can significantly lower electricity bills by providing a substantial portion of the business’s energy needs from renewable sources.
Businesses can also take advantage of net metering or the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) to sell excess energy back to the grid, creating an additional revenue stream.
Energy Independence: Solar PV systems reduce reliance on external energy suppliers and protect businesses from volatile energy prices.
Over time, this leads to more stable and predictable energy costs, aiding in better financial planning.
Environmental Responsibility: Using solar energy helps businesses reduce their carbon footprint and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability.
This can enhance the company’s reputation among eco-conscious consumers and partners.
Compliance and Incentives: Many regions offer incentives, tax credits, and rebates for installing solar PV systems, reducing the upfront investment and improving the return on investment (ROI).
Businesses can also comply with increasing environmental regulations and standards.
Increased Property Value: Properties equipped with solar PV systems often have higher market values due to their energy efficiency and lower operating costs.
This can be a selling point for future buyers or tenants looking for sustainable facilities.
Brand Image and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Implementing solar energy can enhance a company’s brand image by showcasing its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
This can attract customers, investors, and employees who prioritise eco-friendly practices.
Operational Efficiency and Reliability: Solar PV systems are low-maintenance and highly reliable, providing consistent performance over many years.
Businesses can benefit from uninterrupted power supply, reducing downtime and operational disruptions.
Market Competitiveness: Lower operational costs and a sustainable brand image can give businesses a competitive edge in their industry.
Companies can leverage their green credentials to differentiate themselves from competitors.
Long-term Financial Benefits: Solar PV systems typically have a long lifespan with warranties ranging from 20 to 25 years, ensuring long-term energy savings.
The payback period for solar investments is generally short, after which businesses enjoy free electricity for the remainder of the system’s life.
How Do Solar Panels Work?
In short, daylight is converted by the Solar Panels to Electricity (DC), the electricity is then fed to an inverter, which changes the DC electricity to AC Electricity. AC Electricity is the electricity we use in our household to run domestic appliances and lights. If the house’s requirement for energy is more than the energy being generated by the Solar PV panels the house will be supplemented with energy from the grid. If the energy being produced by the Solar PV panels is greater than that required by the house, the house will take the energy it requires and then will export the excess energy back to the grid or a battery if installed.
The greater the level of day light, the more energy is produced.
By using the latest technology available on the market, we are able to ensure that you, the customer, can get the most out of your system. The leading companies have very advanced apps that run on smart phones and enable the customer to see live information about the homes consumption. By changing living habits slightly, you can get the best from your system and reduce the need for energy from the grid dramatically. For instance, using the timing device on your washing machine to come on at first light when the household is still asleep and energy demand is low, placing the dishwasher on to run during the day, not after evening meals when the light is fading.
Teaming up a Solar PV System with a battery, energy diverter (if you have a hot water tank and immersion heater), and an Electric Vehicle Charge Point you are really future-proofing your home for your family and it opens up many different energy tariffs from the big energy suppliers.
